General Conference thoughts

Today in Seminary we discussed 1 Nephi 11:1 where Nephi desired to know the things of God, believed in Christ and God’s ability to give him the knowledge he sought, then pondered the words of God he had already received. It was then that the angel visited him with the answers/revelations he sought. This evening my daughter called. She and her husband are assigned talks for Sacrament meeting this Sunday in their new ward. The subject is “Preparing for General Conference.” I immediately thought of Nephi’s experience and likened that to preparing to receive revelation during General Conference. If you go to conference with a question/desire for knowledge, and have faith that these servants of God who will speak are prophets, seers and revelators, and then really listen and ponder their messages, I know you can receive inspiration and individualized messages from Heavenly Father for yourself. It was a timely scripture that provided a jumping-off point for my daughter’s talk!
