Your family is the people who are there for you. They support you, comfort you, give you a shoulder to lean on. They cheer you on and welcome you home. This is a photo taken a few moments after I finished my first marathon, January 1, 2013. I am literally leaning on them to be able to stand upright. All my grandkids (and my hubby, 2 daughters and a son-in-law) braved 30-40 degree temps for 4+ hours waiting for me to cross the finish line. I heard their cries of, “Yay, Gramma!” from the bridge as I rounded the last corner. They build a tunnel of linked hands for me to run under as I came down the home stretch.
In our home, every time a family member arrives we give a cheer of “Yay! You’re home!” as we welcome them in to the safety and security of our sanctuary from the world.
Families are forever!

Good job, Grandma! I have run a few marathons. I hope that someday some little ones will yell out, ‘Yay, Grandma!” for me as I finish another.
Yikes. The thought of doing a second one is a bit daunting. Now I know what I’d be in for !
I know! It’s the training that kills me. I don’t have time to go out and do long runs because long runs take me half a day! 🙂
When I was training for the marathon I didn’t have the luxury of Saturdays for long runs so I would get up at like 4 AM on Friday morning to run for three hours before work. horrible!
The things we do to ourselves! It is quite an accomplishment though.
Thanks, but I don’t know if I can come up with the same motivation twice! How many have you done??
Only three. I did the second and third because they were here in my “backyard” and it seemed crazy not to. I don’t know if I’ll do another, but I haven’t ruled it out. My daughter is going to France next year as an exchange student and some of us are thinking that maybe we should go run the Paris Marathon!
Wow. I could be enticed to do that!
That’s what I’m thinking! If we seriously consider it, I’ll let you know. 🙂

Oh, yes, praise God for the sanctuary of home. I love your custom of shouting, “Yay, you’re home!” to family members returned to the nest. And congratulations for completing a marathon.
A stellar accomplishment!
Thank you, Gail, for becoming a follower of my blog. I trust you will find the posts meaningful.
