Becán photo © 2004 Mary Ann Sullivan.

Becán is a Mayan fortified city which is now a ruin. Its unique attributes of a deep moat with high earthwork walls and tall towers match the descriptions of fortifications built by Captain Moroni in the Book of Mormon.  My early-morning religion class has been studying this section and at the same time (synchronistically!) I came across an article about Becán. Searched around and found this photo, which also served the Challenge topic of “Abandoned” quite nicely.
