My Top Ten Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. If you want to play along, post a link on their site to your blog post and then post a link to them from your blog.

1. “Despite his money and his looks and all the good-on-paper attributes he possessed, he was not a reader; and, well, let’s just say that is the sort of nonsense up with which we will not put. ” The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown

2. “People whose lives are not balanced by a healthy love of money suffer from an appalling obsession with personal integrity.” Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

3. “Every household needs one piece of furniture in really bad taste.” Glass Castle, by Jeanette Wells

4. “Laughter is like a fresh breeze–it cleans its way through the body.” The Host, by Stephenie Meyer

5. “Of all the hardships a person had to face none was more punishing than the simple act of waiting.” Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalad Hosseini

6. “One can’t pray for different musical notes–one can only ask to play as well as possible the notes one has been given.” Quiet Girl, by Peter Hoeg

7. The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery has “favorite quotes” on every page. One will have to suffice. You really must read the whole book…“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”

8. ok, maybe two…“I remembered the fox. One runs the risk of crying a bit if one allows oneself to be tamed.” The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

9. “The library held all the English literature classics, and quite a few surprises like gertrude Stein. I had no idea of what to read or in what order, so I just started alphabetically. Thank God her last name was Austen…”Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeannette Winterson.

Which, of course, leads me to…

10. “Elizabeth’s spirit’s soon rising to playfulness again, she wanted Mr. Darcy to account for his having ever fallen in love with her. ‘How could you begin?’ said she.
‘I can comprehend your going on charmingly, when you had once made a beginning; but what could set you off in the first place?’ ‘I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.” Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

Hmmm….Do you remember the moment that you fell in love with your significant other? Sounds like the making of a new blog post!
